Healing Country at Paraburdoo

TIAD Enterprises is proud to be leading rehabilitation works on our Country at Rio Tinto’s Paraburdoo operations. What was once a mine waste dump is being reshaped and prepared for native vegetation to return, more than 100 hectares of land are being restored as close as possible to their original state. This work connects deeply to our cultural values.

Our Managing Director and Yinhawangka Traditional Owner, Marlon Cooke, explains: “Rehabilitation is important for Indigenous People, you’re caring for your land. And that’s what we’re all here to do as caretakers for this Country.”

For TIAD, rehabilitation is about more than restoring the land. It creates employment, strengthens cultural identity, and provides training opportunities for our young people. In April 2025, we opened Mirnumia (“house of learning”) in Paraburdoo, a culturally safe training centre designed to prepare Yinhawangka and local people for roles across mining and other industries.

We thank Rio Tinto for working alongside us and supporting Indigenous-led rehabilitation. Together, we are Healing Country, ensuring the land is cared for and opportunities are created for future generations.
